Seed Row Planter Can Watermelons Be Planted In A Row Behind A Tractor Or Must They Be Mounded?
Can watermelons be planted in a row behind a tractor or must they be mounded? - seed row planter
I'm trying to understand if I very much country for my seeds of watermelon, or if they are to survive in a row. Many older people that the plant here said that they will be hills. I can not believe that commercial growers do when you plant so many acres of them. By the way, I am planting 3 acres of them. (I do not dig that!) Lol

Watermelons should be planted 8 to 12 feet away, thus spreading the vines. I speak not of a mechanical planter know that the distance can be calculated automatically. I planted in the hills and on flat ground and have almost no difference. I would say it should mound when the soil does not flow easily, like after a rain.
Three acres is a lot of watermelons. If this is your first attempt, I would be with a much smaller scale to begin. Watermelons do not really need or want the road will be watered down. Too much water will rot on the side of the earth.
